Message you're bound to get slip-ups from time to time. No shop has flawless products ALL the time, especially if the work is outsourced.

Considering the fact that they immediately offered to refund you, not much blame can be put on Z1. Sure, they could probably improve quality control, but that can be considered a "work in progress".

I live in Philadelphia, and have always experienced excellent customer service with Z1. I haven't made a large purchase with Z1 since the fall, but every time I need parts/advice, they're right on top of things.

My other Z (first Z, '93 NA) was having a lot of problems shortly after purchasing it. I mainly dealt with Shawn @ Z1, who was always able to tell me what I needed, while not selling me excess parts.

When I bought my TT last year, I knew it needed a new transmission. I called up Z1 Parts, and placed an order.

Two days later, at about 9pm on Sunday night, Shawn calls me up:

- "Hey Cade, I just saw you ordered an automatic TT transmission. I thought you had an NA? Just want to make sure you're not getting the wrong parts."

-- "Nope, bought a second Z. Thanks for calling to double-check, though."

Then he proceeded to ask me of my goals with the Z, and informed me that I will need an alternative to a stock A/T transmission down the road, if I really begin to build up the car.

- "You don't need it now, but in a couple of years, look into either a 5spd conversion or an upgraded A/T transmission. For the time being, though, you might be able to benefit from an HKS Automatic Line Controller."

He proceeded to tell me how it functions, and how it affects the transmission.

- "We've got a used one off of a parts car. Has a few scratches, but works fine. If you want it, I'll ship it tomorrow for $150."

Anyway, the point is that in my experience, Z1 has always been right on top of things.

I get those boxes from FedEx all wrapped in Z1 tape no more than three business days after placing an order.
